Legal and Human Rights Centre began as a human rights project at the University of Dar es Salaam under Tanzania Legal Education Trust (TANLET).  The organization was eventually   registered in September 1995.

LHRC translates its missions and objectives through the implementation of the following activities: 

Research on legal, human rights and social issues with findings playing a key role towards advocacy campaigns

Legal and Human Rights Centre has set its Missions, Visions and Goals to ensure that it becomes second to none  in terms of protection and attainment of human rights for the have and have nots.
