LHRC is actively involved in a number of activities.  The said projects have been divided into three departments to enable the organizations achieve its mission.

The Public Engagement , subdivided into the Human Rights Monitoring and Outreach and Legal Aid Services (Legal Aid Clinics ), are the core of the LHRC due to its activities making the attainment of justice and dignity for all a reality.  Through the years, activities carried under the departments have made it possible for the organization to fulfill its mission to support the deprived.

Among services involved are legal services, human rights awareness, mass sensitization and the promotion of good governance and democracy.  So far the Public Engagement department has been a platform where LHRC voices its concern and discontent on legal and human rights issues which affect Tanzania.  The area has been a venue where the Centre airs its views to bring key social changes in the country.

Monitoring and Evaluation Department and Finance and Administration Department are some of the departments which compliment efforts made in the department of Public Engagement.

The duos are more oriented towards internal aspects of the organization as they promote and contribute to strengthen the institutional capacity. Both departments undertake diverse demand-driven measures to improve performance and sustainability of the Centre.  Notably, the two departments are tools which ensure that LHRC implements its activities diligently.
