Introduction
Over the years, LHRC has made relentless efforts to serve as a reliable “watchdog” to ensure that the government of Tanzania performs its duties diligently. The Center has been keen to make a close follow up on performance of the Government to improve transparency and accountability. It is due to its strong conviction on good governance that LHRC formed the Government Watch Panel. The Government Watch Panel is a device meant to monitor key trends in the ascendancy of Tanzania.
 
Composition of the Panel
The Government Watch Panel is a political neutral and ideologically non-biased team which comprise of prominent people from the Tanzanian society. The jury is made of two groups of affiliated members, namely Prominent Members and Technical Experts.

2. Mr. Tundu Lissu
 
Resolutions
The team is entitled to adopt its own modus operandi, rules and principles in accordance with its mandate, and the objectives of its establishment. The board is assisted by a secretariat, which collects all necessary information towards the implementation of its activities.
 
Activities
The section critically and constructively monitors governance issues, discusses how the Government of Tanzania has been performing and recommends to the proper authorities the best ways to improve its performance. It shares issues of power with citizens of Tanzania and might as well forward critical issues for legal actions when necessary.
 
Its findings and recommendations are reliable input in terms of assessment of performance on  the Government policies. Suggestions and raised issues are monitored closely to evaluate achievement of expected goals.
 
Press statements and press conferences
The Panel meets quarterly to make press statements or hold press conferences. In addition, it may hold ad hoc meetings whenever need arises and may also take part in TV and radio programmes.
