The LHRC has a research unit which identifies issues of human rights, conducts researches and surveys through physical visits, different information received from the media, public and human rights monitors. Together with that information is obtained from government and non government institutions which provide the realistic picture of the situation on the ground. This information is complied and produced into reports which are used to advocate for government adherence to human rights standards and improvement of performance of such institutions.
The Tanzania Human Rights Situation Report is produced every year coordinated by this unit. This report has been used to provide a picture of the adherence of human rights in the country. This report has been produced by LHRC since 2002. The report is widely used by government, non government institutions and also learning institutions as a reference to human rights in the country.
